Primary Care
Main ContentGeriatrics (Gerontology)
As our population ages, the importance of geriatric medicine has taken on new significance. University of Mississippi Medical Center shares that interest by providing internal medicine physicians who specialize in care for an aging generation of those 65 and older.
Members of the care team provide consultive clinics for all problems experienced by the elderly. Common reasons for referral include memory impairment, functional impairment and comprehensive geriatric assessment of patients with multiple medical problems and/or psychosocial problems.
A multidisciplinary approach to assessment and treatment is taken, including medical, psychiatric, and neurologic evaluations and care.
